We would like to set up an environment that is as close as possible to the production environment as possible, so that we are able to trial and review any changes to the site before they go live.

We would ideally have two environments dev and stage on the same box.
Ideally we would use dev.crin.org and stage.crin.org as two document roots
We will script any deployment from git
the same script should be used on productin too
We will use drush to sync between production and staging/dev
we will need to have ssh access between the stage box and the prod box to be able to sync
I would also like to know how you manage updates on the boxes. In the long run it is pretty important that the dev box is kept in sync with the prod box.
